Overview
Doi Inthanon and Pa Chor One Day Small Group Tour
Join us for a unique one-day small-group tour to Doi Inthanon National Park – one of Thailand’s must-see destinations, known for its stunning landscapes and cultural richness, and Pa Chor – an often overlooked spectacle located in the nearby Mae Wang National Park.
After being picked up from your accommodation in Chiang Mai, we’ll drive about 90 minutes to the park in a comfortable, air-conditioned van or SUV. Our first stop is the majestic Mae Ya Waterfall, one of Thailand’s most impressive – and often overlooked – waterfalls. A short walk from the parking area brings you to this breathtaking cascade, where you’ll have time to relax, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Next, we’ll visit Mae Klang Luang, a Karen hill tribe village nestled among terraced rice fields and framed by lush mountains. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the village and nearby nature trails, and stop by a charming local coffee shop where coffee is brewed over an open fire. Try your hand at grinding beans using traditional tools and enjoy a freshly brewed cup while chatting with the friendly locals.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant with beautiful views over the valley – a perfect spot to relax and refuel before continuing our journey.
In the afternoon, we’ll stop at Wachirathan Waterfall, the most powerful waterfall in the park in terms of water volume. Its thundering flow and misty spray make it a spectacular photo stop and a highlight of the trip.
We’ll then leave Doi Inthanon and head into Mae Wang National Park for the final adventure of the day: Pa Chor Canyon – a remarkable geological site with a story that goes back thousands of years. This area was once part of the course of the Ping River, one of northern Thailand’s major rivers. Over time, the river shifted its path due to tectonic activity and natural erosion. The exposed landscape was then gradually sculpted by wind and rain into a maze of towering soil pillars, cliffs, and ridges.
Some of these natural columns reach up to 30 meters high, and the distinct layers in the soil walls tell a story of ancient riverbeds and sediment deposits. The loop trail through the canyon takes about an hour round-trip, with some steep stairs and uneven sections, so moderate fitness is recommended. Along the way, you’ll enjoy dramatic views of the formations and the surrounding forested hills – a striking and unexpected contrast to the lush waterfalls and villages earlier in the day.
From here, it’s about an hour’s drive back to Chiang Mai, where we’ll drop you off at your accommodation and conclude a memorable day of exploration, nature, and culture.

What to Expect and What to Bring
Doi Inthanon is one of Chiang Mai’s most iconic and popular destinations—and with good reason. This tour is ideal for those seeking a relaxed day of sightseeing, with light hiking at each stop. Trails are generally easy and accessible, with no strenuous trekking involved.
Please note that this tour does not include a visit to the summit of Doi Inthanon. If reaching the peak is essential to your experience, we recommend checking out our alternative itineraries that include the summit.
Weather conditions in the park can vary throughout the year. From November to February, temperatures can be quite cool, especially in the early morning, so we suggest bringing a light jacket or long-sleeve top. During the rainy season (April to October), a rain jacket or poncho is highly recommended. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and closed-toe walking shoes are advised for all seasons.
