Meet the Karen villagers and explore amazing waterfalls, valleys, jungle and farms as well as the highest spot in Thailand on this hand crafted Doi Inthanon private trekking tour, in an area with a unique climate and rich in biodiversity. Whilst there are plenty of similar tours, we guarantee small groups, more focus on learning about the flora and fauna, a more relaxed pace and no hidden fees.
After being picked up at 8am we will drive south for 2 hours to Doi Inthanon National Park and begin with a visit to the highest spot in Thailand and a short walk on the Ang Ka nature trail, a fascinating area with flora and fauna found nowhere else.  From here we drive to the twin pagodas - another must see part of Doi Inthanon and a beautiful attraction with gardens, viewpoints and unique architecture.
Private Tour
This private Doi Inthanon trekking tour begins with the help of a local Karen guide to explain the flora and fauna in the area as we walk the 5km trail through the jungle valley before descending into the village. The valley is dotted with beautiful waterfalls and is shaded by the forest canopy keeping you cool throughout the journey and you may hear one of the resident gibbons if you're very lucky. At certain times of year the rice paddies may be a verdant green, or shimmering gold and is a sight to behold. When we reach the Karen village we'll enjoy some local coffee and a tasty lunch and if you like, walk around the various handicraft homes in the village.
From here we begin our journey back to the city but one last waterfall awaits - Wachirathan waterfall, which is a spectacular sight and the perfect way to end the tour.  From here we drive the 1.5 hours back to Chiang Mai to conclude the Doi Inthanon trekking tour.
This is a completely private tour so once booked, no other visitors will join - perfect for couples, families and groups wanting a more intimate experience going at a pace to suit you. We can also adjust the schedule to visit attractions at quieter times!

Tour Plan
08.00am – Hotel pick up
Pick up from your hotel and head to Doi Inthanon national park.
10.00am - Photo Opportunity at the Highest Spot in Thailand!
We'll drive to the summit of Doi Inthanon national park, take some photos at the highest spot, and hike the Ang Ka nature trail.
10.30am - Visit the Famous Twin Pagodas
As we head down from the highest point, we'll stop off at the beautiful twin pagodas, a must see attraction in the area.
11.30am - Begin the Hike
We'll hike a stunning 5km hiking trail through forest, farms and a valley dotted with waterfalls.
13.30pm - Arrive in Karen hilltribe village
We will stop for a coffee in the local village, you're welcome to grind the beans if you like! After a coffee we'll have lunch in a local restaurant.
14.30pm - Wachirathan waterfall
The final stop is the impressive Wachirathan waterfall, a perfect way to end the visit and take a few final photos.
17.00pm - Arrive back in Chiang Mai
Arrive in Chiang Mai and drop off at your accommodation.

What to Expect from Trekking in Doi Inthanon
Doi Inthanon is a must see destination in Chiang Mai and is exceptionally popular for good reason! This trip is perfect for those looking for a bit of sightseeing / bit of trekking with plenty of attractions along the way. If you're looking to get off the beaten track and want a long distance trek then look at the related tours or chat to us for options.
As this is a private tour you're welcome to replace certain attractions with others - you may want to visit Mae Ya waterfall or Pa Chor for example and as long as it fits in the schedule for the day we can make adjustments. Simply let us know when you book!

We had an absolutely fantastic day on the private tour in Doi Inthanon. The tour was a real highlight of an already amazing trip to Chiang Mai, I would highly recommend.
TK, our guide, was so friendly and gave us information about nature and Thai culture as well as showing us all the highlights. She also had some great recommendations around Chiang Mai! Breeze, our driver was also so friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our belongings with him whilst we went hiking, and he picked us up at the end of the routes. It was great to meet some of the members of a mountain tribe – TK translated for us so that we could interact. Tourism is one of the ways the locals make money along with making beautiful clothing and incredible coffee (which you can try, and buy both coffee and clothing). It was amazing to see the rainforest at the top of Doi Inthanon – it was so different to the rest of the region! The waterfall and the twin pagodas were also magical.
