Overview
A memorable, fully immersive experience at a leading elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai. This full day package offers visitors the opportunity to get to know the amazing elephants and get an understanding of their daily lives and behaviors. During the day, you'll feed, cook, walk and bathe the elephants at a relaxed pace and your mahout will explain everything you need to know. You'll enjoy a tasty lunch on site and spend as much time as you like in the company of your new found friends.
The mission of this elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai is to provide as many elephants as possible with the good health, freedom, and happiness they truly deserve. Using a progressive and ethically responsible approach to elephant eco-tourism as a platform to raise awareness and educate people from Thailand and around the world about elephant care, the plight of the Asian elephant and our conservation philosophy “Elephant Conservation in Action”. This sanctuary offers a retirement home for ALL elephants who have previously worked hard for tourism entertainment or in the logging industry.
After pick up and the 50 minute drive out to the elephant sanctuary, visitors will change into traditional clothing and be briefed on the days activities. You'll prepare fruits and meet the elephants for the first time and roam around with them, feed them, pat them and enjoy the amazing spectacle. There is no rush to move on and you're welcome to spend as much time as you like with them.
After lunch, we'll prepare another dish of sticky rice with herbs - a tasty and healthy snack for the elephants! You'll then wander down to the lagoon to bathe and scrub them or simple watch them washing and cooling off. Take your time to observe behaviours like scratching, rubbing and throwing dirt as you take plenty of photos for amazing memories!
You'll return to the office area for tea coffee before heading back to Chiang Mai city to conclude the tour. A photographer will take photos throughout the tour which are for sale at the end, with additional free photos being posted to Facebook.
Please note the schedule below is for reference only, you're welcome to spend as much or as little time with the elephants as you like. There is no formal schedule aside from the pick up time.

Tour Plan
8.30 am- Pick up
Pick up from your accommodation within Chiang Mai city and drive 50 minutes approx to the elephant sanctuary in Mae Rim district.
10.00 am Arrive at elephant sanctuary
Arrive at the elephant sanctuary and change into traditional clothing.
10.30am - Meet the Elephants
Prepare fruits for our elephants and meet your new friends. Feed, roam around, touch and play with the elephants. You're welcome to spend as much time as you like with the elephants.
12.00pm - Lunch
Enjoy a tasty local lunch and relax.
13.00pm - Prepare snacks
Prepare and cook sticky rice mixed with herbal for our elephants. Learn more about the background of the elephants, how they are cared for and behaviors.
14.00pm - Bathing Time
Enjoy more time roaming around with the elephants, take them to the river to scrub and clean them taking plenty of photos. Feed sticky rice and observe their behavior as they enjoy bath time.
15.00pm - Depart for Chiang Mai
Take a tea / coffee break and head back to Chiang Mai city arriving approx 4pm
